Our New Mother General
In September, we had our General Chapter during which the new Superior General of the Congregation was chosen. For the first time in the history of our Congregation an Indian Sister was chosen to lead us in our missionary endeavour. Sr Selin Karikkattil, 45 years old, joined the Congregation in 1989, made her first profession in Bangalore in 1995 and her final vows in Rome in 2001. She has served as novice mistress in India, a Regional Delegate for India and during the last six years as General Councillor to the Superior General with responsibility for the formation of the juniors.
As we rejoice in this new step made by our Congregation in the service of the missionary Church, we ask the Holy Spirit to sustain and guide Mother Selin Karikkattil in the arduous task conferred on her. We assure her of our co-operation as we strive to bring the light of Christ to the furthest corners of the earth. May Mary, Mother of Good Counsel, St. Peter Claver and our Blessed Mother Foundress Mary Theresa Ledóchowska intercede for her and sustain her as she guides our steps in the service of our brothers and sisters who are still waiting for the light of the Gospel.
